DYNAMIC SIMULATION FOR INTEGRATED DESIGN AND CONTROL OF PROCESS FLOWSHEETS

Abstract A flexible process simulation system that is capable of open-loop and closed-loop simulation with various forms of generated mathematical models for a process is presented. The simulation system also has features for design and analysis of control systems together together with features for generating problem specific mathematical models and for selecting appropriate simulation strategies. The methodology employed is described in terms of modelling aspects, numerical aspects and computational aspects. Finally, through a process flowsheet as an example, the application of some of the features are highlighted.
