From autumn 2009, Road Traffic Information Service and Driving Safety Support Information Service began in Japan with the release of ITS Spot compatible Car Navigation System (CNS). ITS Spots can provide a two-way high-speed and high-volume communication. It aggregates vehicle data such as location and condition to the Probe Integration Server, and these data are used for road management like traveling speed. Hitachi Ltd. is conducting demonstration experiments on the map matching technology using probe data in China since 2004. In FY2010, this probe technology is implemented to the Probe Integration Server of which the system specification was developed by National Institute for Land, Infrastructure Management,, Ministry Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). The system was built by Kanto Regional Development Bureau, MLIT. In this paper, the authors report how they have applied Hitachi probe technology to improve the map matching technology for the realization of the accuracy improved integration of probe data and its evaluation result.
