An innovative cost – benefit analysis as a decision support system for the evaluation of alternative scenarios of water resources management

SUMMARY A crucial problem for planners dealing with the management of water resources is to choose among the available alternative scenarios. In the presented methodology the result is a combination of the data of all the important parameters of water resourses management and the degree of influence of each involved group to the decision - making. The subjectivity of the results is minimised by a sensitivity analysis on the degree of influence of the above groups. It is shown that the relative weight given to each group has a direct influence to the final decision, since a large part of the total grading of the scenarios depends on the pursued aims of each involved group.
