PREDICTION OF HEAT-TRANSFER TO LIQUID-SOLID FLUIDIZED-BEDS

Heat transfer coefficients to a liquid-solid fluidized bed in a cylindrical tube have been measured using water as liquid phase and three types of cylindrical steel particles, as well as glass, nickel, copper and lead spheres of different sizes as solid phase. The independent varaibles included heat flux, liquid velocity and particle physical properties. The experimental results as well as a data bank containing a large number of measured heat transfer coefficients for solid-liquid fluidization over a wide range of operational parameters have been compared with the predictions of most published correlations. A model for the prediction of heat transfer coefficients is proposed which predicts the present experimental data and the data of other investigators with good accuracy. On a mesure les coefficients de transfert de chaleur en lit fluidise solide-liquide dans un tube cylindrique en utilisant, d'une part, de l'eau comme phase liquide et, d'autre part, trois types de particules d'acier cylindriques ainsi que des spheres de verre, de nickel, de cuivre et de plomb de differentes tailles comme phase solide. Les variables independantes comprennent le flux de chaleur, la vitesse du liquide et les proprietes physiques des particules. Les resultats experimentaux et une banque de donnees contenant un grand nombre de coefficients de transfert de chaleur mesures pour la fluidisation solide-liquide pour une vaste gamme de parametres de fonctionnement, ont ete compares aux predictions de la plupart des correlations publiees. On propose un modele de prediction des coefficients du transfert de chaleur qui predit avec une bonne precision les donnees experimentales actuelles et les donnees d'autres chercheurs.
