Attaining Millennium Development Goals through Innovation: Understanding A Social Enterprise in Rural Rajasthan

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), whichare meant to address a variety of issues ranging from extreme poverty to environmental sustainability, have offeredassistance to the most deprived sections of humanity to combat their exclusion from society. The use of innovative technologies is given utmost priority in many parts of the world to acquire resources to tackle the issues featured under the MDGs approach. Pioneering individuals across the globe have usedtheir entrepreneurial capabilities to strengthen the possibility of achieving the objectives outlined by the MDGs. The innovative use of social entrepreneurial ventures have become the most vibrant option in showcasinghow MDGs play a role in rebuilding modern societies. A social entrepreneurial venture, Barefoot College, located in rural Rajasthan is studied in order to gain a deeper understandingof a successful social entrepreneurial venture and whether or not the model can be replicated in other areas to achieve the MDGs.
