Liquid film properties in two-phase annular flow

Abstract Experimental measurements have been made of the properties of falling liquid films of water with and without the addition of polymeric drag reducing agents. It was found that the presence of the drag reducing agent stabilised the film, delaying the disturbance wave transition to higher Reynolds numbers and decreasing the frequency of these waves. A small increase in wave velocity and base film thickness was also found.
