A passive sampler for the determination of the heavy metal burden of indoor environments

Abstract A polystyrene cup filled with 120 ml of water is used as a simple and inexpensive passive sampler for heavy metals in the indoor environment. The performance of the sampler has been evaluated using lead and cadmium as typical examples. First results of two survey programmes on the occurrence of lead and cadmium in homes of two areas of different exposure levels are given.
