Video browsing systme based on mosaic image

PURPOSE: A system and method for generating a mosaic image and a method of reproducing a motion picture based on the mosaic image are provided to display contents photographed by a digital TV display device or a video monitoring system as one still image. CONSTITUTION: A system for generating a mosaic image includes a motion-picture analyzer(21), a factor estimator(22), an illumination variation compensator(23), and a mosaic image memory(24). The motion-picture analyzer outputs a motion vector of an input image. The factor estimator estimates a conversion factor and a warping factor for generating the mosaic image on the basis of the motion vector to output the converted current frame image. The illumination variation compensator detects whether an illumination condition varies between the mosaic image and the current frame and compensates for an illumination variation according to the detected result. The memory stores the generated mosaic image.
