Voltage‐Fed Z‐Source/Quasi‐Z‐Source Inverters

This chapter discusses the voltage-fed Z-source/quasi-Z-source inverters, including their configurations, working principles, voltage and current stresses, and a comparison with their Z-source counterpart. There are several types of voltage-fed ZSI/qZSI, but they have the same principle of operation, in that the shoot-through behavior between power devices of one phase leg is utilized to achieve a voltage boost in single-stage power conversion. The chapter investigates the voltage-fed qZSI with continuous input current as an example to illustrate the principle of ZSI/qZSI in terms of the steady-state model, small-signal dynamic model, and also some simulation results. Parameter scanning of the Bode diagram can be used to optimize the parameter design of a given system in the frequency domain. Its modeling and operation have been investigated in detail with simulation results, providing the basics for other derived impedance topologies and applications.
