Brian Knight, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computing at Thames Polytechnic, gained his PhD degree at London University in 1969 in the field of applied mathematics, since which time he has worked in the computer industry, particularly in the field of process control. He joined the Systems Division at Thames Polytechnic in 1981, where he has conducted research work in expert systems, including the construction of a working system for the selection of water treatment for the water research centre.
