Worst Case Sensitivity Analysis of Controllers for Stock Consistency of Paper Machine Subsystem

A robustness analysis of the control system, designed for the stock consistency of the paper machine subsystem, using PSO based conventional controllers has been presented in this paper. The robustness of the designed control system has been assessed through worst case sensitivity analysis. The subsystem taken into consideration for this work is the headbox. Tuning parameters of conventional PI and PID controllers have been determined through FL-PSO algorithm. Worst case sensitivity has been assessed by evaluating the peak values of sensitivity function and complementary sensitivity function for the perturbed consistency models. The aforesaid peak values have been determined through MATLAB. A comparative analysis of both PI and PID controllers for all five stock consistency models have also been presented. From the comparative analysis, it has been observed that the PI controller exhibits better robustness as compared to PID controller.
