Measuring Product Goal Congruence: A Case Study

In this paper the authors argue that a key, albeit implicit, theme which runs through much of the manufacturing management literature is goal congruence. After identifying and defining various types of goal congruence a methodology for its measurement is proposed. This methodology has been used in two small manufacturing enterprises in the UK and some preliminary results from the interviews conducted are presented. In the final section of the paper the authors expand on their thoughts behind the concept of goal congruence and highlight a number of areas which require further research.
