Templated nanoparticle assembly on the surface of a patterned nanosphere

We report findings related to the patterning of nanospheres, specifically, the deposition of gold nanoparticles on only one side of a silica or latex nanosphere. These findings are significant because they offer the prospect of assembling novel nanoscale architectures in solution. In support of this assertion, we describe the templated assembly of gold nanoparticles on the surface of a patterned silica and latex nanosphere.
