Mixing and Segregation in Rotating Drums

In this contribution, the radial and axial segregation dynamics in rotating drums are discussed using discrete element simulations. It is shown that radial segregation takes place for arbitrarily small size differences and how mixing and segregation processes interact with each other. The stability of axial bands is investigated by using the calculated diffusion coefficient for each particle component.
