A mouse pattern recognition system and method for controlling a motion of a game character are provided to recognize various operating patterns of a mouse operated by a user to implement a motion of a game character without having complicated keyboard inputs. A mouse pattern recognition system for controlling a motion of a game character includes a mouse pattern registration unit(123) for matching a first mouse pattern inputted in a registration mode to a control command for implementing a specific motion of the game character and registering the first mouse pattern, a mouse pattern comparator(124) for comparing a second mouse pattern inputted in a game mode to the registered mouse pattern to calculate similarity, and a mouse pattern determination unit(125) for selecting a mouse pattern having similarity to the second mouse pattern, which is greater than a threshold value, from registered mouse patterns based on the calculated similarity.
