Traveling wave detection principle based on PCB traveling wave sensor

Traveling Wave Detection is the core problem in traveling wave fault location. Existing traveling wave detection methods could be mainly divided into current traveling wave detection and voltage traveling wave detection. Considering the existing current traveling wave detection is complex and costly, the existing voltage traveling wave detection is inconvenient to install, a PCB traveling wave sensor based on Rogowski coil has been proposed in this paper which could detect faults of the power system by abstracting substation secondary signal directly. The structure of PCB traveling wave sensor was analyzed, the transfer function and frequency characteristics of the high-frequency transient signal extracted from Rogowski coil has been studied.
