POSSIBILITIES OF FILM CONTROL BY DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING

Image processing has proved highly successful for automatic, objective quality monitoring in industry. In cases where the continuous control of extruded film is specified, enormous volumes of data are generated. A system based on standard computer components has therefore been developed in order to cope with this vast quantity of data. Apart from defect detection, it offers facilities for error classification, error assessment and defect description. This mechanism also guarantees the stability of the testing system when exposed to troublesome influences from the production environment, such as dust.
