Designing logic functions using an electron waveguide Y‐branch switch

We propose and analyze theoretically logical circuitry based on electron waveguides. The circuit elements are branching electron waveguides (Y‐branch switches) where an applied field gives a nonlinear digital response function, giving standardized signal levels. The proposed circuitry is shown to exhibit features analogous to those of complementary metal‐oxide semiconductors. Circuits implementing NAND and NOR functions are shown, as well as a realization of a logical implication that only requires one Y‐branch switch.
