EMC study of an ARM-based electronic control unit for high power DC/DC converters

The EMC design is of vital importance for electronic control modules of high power dc-dc converters to achieve high reliability of fuel cell electric vehicles. This paper focuses on the EMC design of an ARM-based electronic control unit for the high power DC/DC converter. The countermeasures are as diverse as the problems, such as grounding techniques, power lines interference rejection, PCB shielding, filtering and ESD protection. The proposed techniques will help the designer resolve the EMC problems and improve the reliability of the control unit. Although a range of EMC and EMI solutions have been put forward, the emphasis of this paper is to clarify EMC mechanisms of the control unit to solve the problems from its origins.
