Vibroacoustic Analysis of the Switch Reluctance Motor

One of the most important types of electromechanical systems is the S witch R eluctance M otors/M achines (SRM ) which is attracting considerable interest in industry. In SRM generally there are a lot of disorders and noises due to big vibratory radial loads, such as acoustic noises. In order to prevent these disturbances and decrease environmental noise pollutions, it is very necessary to study them carefully. To reach this purpose in this work first, radial loads of the SRM are investigated and then modal analysis is performed to obtain natural frequencies and mode shapes of the whole system. After that, harmonic analysis of the system is carried out and with the use of these analyses acoustic disorders of the SRM system is obtained. At the end, we investigate the effects of the variation of the end shield in these systems. The results of this work can serve as a guide to the industrial application of SRM, particularly in design of end shields (for all kind of motor with high radial force).© 2007 ASME
