Methods in the Mapping of Neurotransmitter Systems in the Brain

The list of the names of the main telephone exchanges in a country would be of little advantage in understanding the usefulness of the network for its inhabitants. Indeed even the complete description of a telephone handset would not really help in understanding any “functional significance” of the telephone network — though it might suggest what it could not do.
