The Economic Effect Of In-car Navigation System

This paper studies the economic benefits of in-car navigation systems. Specifically, it assesses, under a situation in which the Vehicle Information and Communication (VICS) project is in operation, the following effects: 1) avoidance of stray driving, especially in an unfamiliar area, and 2) optimum route selection based on empirical information and calculated by computer simulation.
