Agents for Electronic Commerce

As electronic commerce becomes more widespread, it will become impossible for humans to effectively handle the variety of tasks required. Therefore, for continued sustenance of the electronic commerce activities it is imperative that some aspects of it are semi-automated. Agent is seen as a key technology towards achieving this. In this paper we discuss the motivations for using agents and the obstacles that stand in the way of main stream agent mediated E-Commerce applications.
