Real-Time Waveform Prototyping

This paper presents an evaluation of the Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing transceiver based on the National Instruments (NI) USRP-RIO software-defined radio platform. The measurements were conducted indoor and outdoor to study the performance in comparison with the NI Long-Term Evolution Application Framework. Further, a strategy is given towards designing a transceiver handling a multitude of modern waveforms in real-time. The source code of the field programmable gate array design is freely available as open source.
