Power & backlog sensitive power control for wireless data in CDMA mobile systems under multipath environments

We introduce a power control scheme for wireless data in a direct sequence code-division multiple-access radio mobile system under multipath environments. The motivation for this study is twofold: limiting inter-user interference to increase the system throughput; reducing power consumption to prolong battery life. We utilize the delay insensitive property of the data traffic to control automatically the transmission base on the channel quality. The proposal provides a tradeoff between the transmit power and its associated cost. Simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm, in comparison with other power control algorithms.
