Clustering in WSNs: A Review

In the last few years, a pretty large number of clustering routing protocols have been developed for WSNs. This paper will review these and critically discuss the most prominent clustering routing algorithms that have been developed for WSNs. Recently, a few surveys of clustering routing methods for WSNs have been presented. These surveys generally aim at outlining some characters of clustering and brief some popular clustering routing algorithms with contrast based on different attributes and performances. In this study, we present a comprehensive survey of different clustering routing protocols proposed in recent years. II. ANALYSIS OF PROMINENT CLUSTERING ROUTING PROTOCOLS IN WSNS- CLUSTER-CONSTRUCTION BASED CLUSTERING ROUTING PROTOCOLS In this section, we present a more comprehensive and critical survey of clustering routing protocols for WSNs compared with previous work. We analyze some of the classical WSN clustering routing algorithms in detail based on the classification of different algorithm-stages, and highlight their characteristics with advantages and disadvantages.
