An apparatus for estimating motion in an image processing system comprises: a depth information detector which detects depth information of an image inputted in a predetermined unit and distinguishes objects included in the image based on the detected depth information; an image reconstitution unit which generates images that correspond to each of the distinguished object; and a motion estimation unit which calculates a motion vector value of the object from each of the generated images, and outputs the combined motion vector values calculated from each of the generated images as a final motion estimated value of the inputted image.
