An Inverse Method for High Loading Fan Rotor Airfoil Design

An inverse method of airfoil design adapted for engineering application has been employed to improve the performance of high loading fan rotor.The basic ideas of combination of viscous CFD and numerical optimization can meet airfoil design requirements with the element profile flow characteristics of high inlet Mach number and high adverse pressure gradient,etc.Succeeding to the design criterion of element profile stacking,the two-dimensional inverse method and three-dimensional stacking can save the computing time greatly.The airfoil design has been carried out by using the inverse method numerical platform.The results of numerical simulation showed that the rotor airfoil designed with the inverse method can control the shock structure,decrease the shock loss,improve the efficiency and increase the surge margin.
