Cooperative Particle Swarm Optimizers: A Powerful and Promising Approach

This chapter surveys the different cooperative models that have been implemented using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) in many applications. A Taxonomy for classifying these models is proposed. The chapter also identifies the different parameters that can influence the behavior of such models. Experiments run on different benchmark optimization functions show how the performance of a simple cooperative PSO model can change under the influence of these parameters.
