Differentiation of cutaneous melanoma from surrounding skin using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy

Differentiation of melanoma and the surrounding dermis by laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was investigated using pellet and real skin samples in order to investigate the feasibility of LIBS for in situ monitoring and identification of target tissues [1].
