Numerical modeling and experimental study of a novel leaky wave antenna

We present the results of numerical modeling of the resonances of the leaky wave antenna using the FDTD technique, and compare the results with the measurement data for the near and far field plots of these antennas. We conclude with the observation that the leaky component of the first higher order mode in the leaky wave antenna radiates in a relatively narrow band. In addition, we also observe that only a part of the power is radiated in this mode and the balance goes to excite the bound first higher order mode, which produces standing waves along the antenna that induce radiation as an array of elementary oscillators.
