STUDY ON DETECTION OF PARTIAL DISCHARGE IN XLPE CABLE AT HIGHER FREQUENCY

A partial discharge (PD) detection device consisting of a new type of PD sensor, i.e., a kind of current transducer, with bandwidth from 10kHz to 28 MHz and fractal theory based signal identification and data processing system for PD is presented in this paper. With this device the PD signal whose strength is lower than 1pC in XLPE cable itself or in its accessories can be easily detected at higher frequency, and the noise interference from the environment can be effectively restrained.
