Land Acquisition Issues in the Road and Industrial Sector

The land acquisition act of 1894 was introduced to express the purpose of facilitating the government’s acquisition of privately held land for public utility. Quite often governments are accused of acquiring land for private firms leading to protests and agitation all over the country over displacement and compensation. Issues related to industrial development has been encompassing through states like Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal due to political concerns as well as unidentified demand of displaced people.
