The Membrane Systems Language Class

This paper introduces the class of languages generated by the transitional model of membrane systems without cooperation and without additional ingredients. The fundamental nature of these basic systems allows us to define this class of languages it in terms of derivation trees of contextfree grammars. We compare this class to the wellknown language classes and discuss its properties.
