Switched boost inverter applicable for solar photovoltaic system based micro-grid

This paper deals with a switched boost inverter (SBI) applicable for solar photovoltaic system (PV) interfaced micro-grid. SBI is a single stage power converter which can supply both dc and ac loads simultaneously which is suitable for microgrid applications. The output voltage of SBI can be either greater or less than its input dc voltage. Also, this converter allows shoot-through of the inverter legs without causing any damage to the converter. In this paper, the principle of operation of the SBI as power conditioning unit in solar PV interfaced microgrid is explained in detail. MATLAB based simulations are performed to verify proposed converter and its control strategy interfaced with solar PV and also MPPT is applied in the simulation to establish its suitability in solar PV interfaced micro-grid operation at varying solar insolation.
