Mechanism of Icing-Caused Conductor Galloping and Its Prevention

Through extensive literature analysis,the causes of conductor galloping,its mechanism,and prevention are summarized.Results show that the key factors of conductor galloping are icing,wind excitation,line structure and parameters;two existing major galloping mechanisms,Den Hartog's vertical vibration and O.Nigol's twisting galloping mechanisms,are unable to explain all the galloping phenomena,besides,there are low damping system resonance and dynamic stability galloping theories;preventive measures,including galloping prevention,galloping resistance,and galloping suppression measures,can effectively prevent its harm to a certain extent;the fundamental solution to galloping is solving conductor icing problem.
