Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome : A review

P orcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) has emerged in the last several years as an important viral disease of swine. Initially confined to the United States, the syndrome is now recognized throughout North America and Europe. There were no clinical reports of the disease prior to 1987.Since 1987,the disease has spread rapidly and, coupled with the lack of scientific knowledge of PRRS, has caused alarm in the swine industry.
