Abstract : Vestibular responses have been evoked from guinea pigs, monkeys, and human beings following stimulation with static pressure, infrasound, sustained audiofrequency sound, and repetitive audiofrequency transients. These observations lead to suggestions concerning the manner in which sound affects the vestibular receptors as well as to proposals concerning levels of sound exposure that might disturb human performance by influencing behaviors mediated at least in part by the vestibular system.
