AT THE meeting of the Otolaryngological Section of the Swedish Medical Society on March 30, 1942, I demonstrated an operative method for curing hoarseness following complete paralysis of one vocal cord. At that time five patients had been operated on in the hospital, and phonographic records of the voice before and after the operation had been made in most cases. Furthermore, a moving picture in technicolor® of the operation was demonstrated. The same paper was read and some additional cases demonstrated at the meeting of the Finnish Otolaryngological Society in Helsinki, Feb. 20, 1943. Most of the patients at that time had war injuries of the neck, and consequently indications for an immediate corrective operation were present.
