MMSE-based adaptive equalizer with effective use of pilot signal for multi-carrier CDM system

Multi-carrier code division multiplexing (MC-CDM) is a promising multiplexing technique for fourth-generation mobile downlink communications systems, where high data rate services should be provided even for high cruising-speed mobiles. The paper proposes an MMSE (minimum mean square error)-based adaptive equalizer for an MC-CDM downlink system which utilizes the pilot signals effectively. The paper also proposes a new signal format with head/tail guard interval insertion. The new format can perfectly avoid intersymbol interference in the symbol timing estimation based on autocorrelation of the guard interval.
