(1→3)‐β‐D‐glucan in indoor air, its measurement and in vitro activity

The underlying mechanisms of the biological activity of (13)-β-D-glucan was investigated using macrophages from guinea pigs or mice. The results showed that these cells expressed (13)-β-D-glucan specific receptors on their surface, and that the release of TNF-α from cells was modulated by the presence of (13)-β-D-glucan. © 1994 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
