The brachiopod fauna now known from the early Middle Devonian (Eifelian) Leptathyris circula Zone of central Nevada includes 29 species. The zone contains assem- blages representative of two communities-a typical diverse assemblage, and a more re- stricted assemblage of the Pentamerella Subzone. Nine species from a Pentamerella Subzone community are described; Teichertina americana, Spinatrypina recula, Anatrypa (Variatrypa) licta, and Spinatrypa (Invertrypa) talis are new. Hadrorhynchia eurekaensis Johnson is reassigned to Cassidirostrum. The Leptathyris circula Zone brachiopods dem- onstrate a strong affinity with Middle Devonian brachiopods of the Old World Province and a minimal affinity with Middle Devonian brachiopods of the Appalachan Province.
