Pure torsion of prestressed flanged sections

Abstract The paper reports on an experimental investigation of 14 pretensioned prestressed T beams in pure torsion and proposes an equation, based on statistical analysis, for predicting cracking torques in plain, reinforced and prestressed concrete flanged sections. The behaviour of the beams is described and the influence of different parameters such as eccentricity and level of prestress on strength and stiffness is discussed. An attempt was also made to study the stiffness theoretically.
