Measurement-based modeling for data centers

We present a heat transfer model for data centers where realtime measurement data is used to reduce the complexity in the specifications of the model. As this modeling approach obtains its input directly from real-time measurements (in the form of boundary data), it is suitable for operational and real-time usage. Although the model is simpler than those based on the use of the Navier-Stokes equations for fluid flow, numerical experiments suggest that it can nevertheless provide useful information for use in data center energy management.
