Artifacts in architectural study collections as seen from different points of view

In an issue devoted entirely to a preliminary survey of architectural study collections, this section briefly cites examples of the use made of such collections by preservation professionals in different fields. Artifacts given as examples include a plaster ceiling medallion, a 17th-century American window sash, an unsuspected hierarchy of hinges from an 18th-century house, corroded steel structural framing from Carnegie Hall, and remnants of painted muslin used to line the interior walls of a frugal 19th-century house.
