A Review on Active Splitting Control of Power Systems

With the rapid development of renewable energy and DC transmission, the traditional out-of-step splitting has been difficult to meet the needs of power grids. Driven by the construction of smart grid and ubiquitous electric power internet of things, active splitting control based on wide-area information and online decision has gradually been concerned. The key problems and corresponding research status on active splitting control are summarized. The points of active splitting control are reviewed, including active splitting time, selection of splitting sections, and coordination of splitting devices. In order to deal with the challenge to increasingly complex stability characteristics, considering the control requirement of modern power systems, an active splitting control system design scheme is proposed. Finally, point out research directions of active splitting control that can be focused on in the future.
