A Study of Factors Causing Student Dissatisfaction in the Department of Production Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi

This research was designed to analyze the teaching systems that cause dissatisfaction among Production Engineering students. The study included five components: curriculum, course content, instructors’ behavior, laboratory and workshop, and administrative issues. It was initiated by creating a questionnaire and testing its content validity and reliability. The questionnaire was then distributed to a total number of 219 sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the Department of Production Engineering, or 85.88% of the total number of students in the three levels. The results showed that the laboratory and workshop, and administrative issues were the main causes of dissatisfaction. Laboratory and workshop issues were related to building characteristics, management procedures, technological tools and equipment characteristics and personal safety equipment. Dissatisfaction in administrative issues was related to management procedures such as planning for service, complexity of service process, and methods for distributing information.
