Dislocation and Relocation of the Tarsometatarsal Joint as an Approach for Resection of the Deep Plantar Fibromatosis: Case Report

Plantar fibromatosis is characterized by proliferation of fibrous tissue over the plantar fascia.11 The etiology of the disease is unknown and associations have been made with Dupuytren contracture.11 The lesion can be treated conservatively, especially in young patients. However, surgery should be considered for those who are symptomatic in spite of prolonged nonoperative care or when the diagnosis is in doubt. We report a surgical approach in treating a young patient with a deep-seated fibronodular lesion in the foot. By dislocating and relocating the tarsometatarsal joint, complete excision was possible through a dorsal incision.
