A Study on Patient Safety and Accident Prevention Measures with Modern Information Technology

The Taiwan Patient-Safety Reporting System, which was designed by the Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation (TJCHA) in 2004, is one of the few national, voluntary, external reporting systems. The systems is built on RRS and publish/subscribe application software, and Message Queue, SOAP, XML technologies are adopted to manage the internal information procedures of healthcare institutions. This study discusses the understanding of medical personnel concerning patient-safety incident prevention measures, from the perspective of trends in reporting of patient-safety irregularities. The results of the study will assist healthcare institutions to better understand their internal errors, in order to design effective strategies for improvement that will enhance the quality of their services, thereby providing safe and effective healthcare to every patient.
