High power passively Q-switched Nd:GdVO4 lasers

Abstract We report on the experimental studies of diode-pumped Nd:GdVO 4 lasers passively Q-switched by Cr 4+ :YAG crystals of different initial transmission. Stable, high average power Q-switched pulses of duration of about 6 ns and peak power of 26.4 kW have been obtained. Passive Q-switched property of the laser under different Nd:GdVO 4 doping concentrations and saturable absorber initial transmissions are experimentally compared.
